How to read a Certificate of Analysis
Purity, identity, endotoxins — what each figure on the page actually means for your research. A CoA is not a formality. It is the primary evidence that a compound is what it claims to be. Understanding how to read one is a prerequisite for working with it responsibly.

Built on the premise that documentation is not optional.
Lunavita Labs was founded on a single observation: the research peptide market had grown sophisticated in what it produced but primitive in how it proved it. We exist to close that gap — with compounds as rigorously documented as they are precisely synthesized.
The Problem
A market that outgrew its documentation standards
By the early 2020s, solid-phase peptide synthesis had become accessible to a wide range of manufacturers. The barrier to producing a research peptide had fallen substantially. What hadn't kept pace was the infrastructure around it: the testing, the traceability, the documentation that allows a researcher to know — not assume — that what is in a vial is what the label says it is.
The result was a market where purity claims were common but purity evidence was inconsistent. Where CoAs existed but weren't lot-specific. Where "third-party tested" meant the manufacturer's affiliated laboratory. Where a researcher procurement decision was, in practice, an act of faith.
We built Lunavita Labs to change the terms of that decision.
What We Built
A documentation standard, not just a product line
Every compound we offer passes a seven-point analytical panel — HPLC purity, mass spectrometry identity confirmation, amino acid analysis, endotoxin testing, bioburden, moisture content, and visual inspection — before it is released. Every panel is performed by an independent, ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory with no commercial relationship to Lunavita Labs.
Every lot number is unique, traceable, and searchable. The Certificate of Analysis for every batch is permanently archived and publicly verifiable through our lot verification tool. We don't produce generic CoAs. We don't repurpose documentation across batches. Every document corresponds to exactly one synthesis event.
This is not exceptional. It is simply the minimum that research integrity requires.
Independence
All testing is performed by third-party accredited laboratories. No in-house QC. No affiliated labs. No conflicts.
Traceability
Every lot is uniquely identified and linked to a complete analytical record, available on request and verifiable online.
Restraint
We don't make claims our documentation can't support. What we know, we state. What remains unproven, we acknowledge.
Research Lexicon
The terminology of peptide research, defined plainly.
Lot Verification
Verify any batch against its analytical record.
Enter a Lunavita Labs lot number to retrieve the complete Certificate of Analysis for that batch — purity, identity, endotoxin, bioburden, and issue date.
Lot numbers are printed on every Lunavita Labs vial label. Format: LV-BXXX-YYYY

Bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) is the standard diluent for lyophilized research peptides. Reconstituted solutions should be stored at 4°C and used within 28 days, or aliquoted and stored at −20°C to minimize freeze-thaw cycles. For laboratory and research use only.

Our Foundation
Standards.
The lunar standard.
A release is not included because it is popular. It is included because it meets our standards.
Every Release
What every compound in our catalog must satisfy.
01
Independently tested
Testing is conducted by an accredited third-party laboratory with no commercial relationship to Lunavita Labs. Results are received as issued — without review or revision prior to publication.
02
Fully documented
Every release is accompanied by a lot-specific Certificate of Analysis. Documentation is prepared before distribution, not on request. There are no exceptions.
03
Batch specific
Certificates reference the exact batch received by the researcher. A document from a prior lot does not satisfy our documentation standard.
04
Traceable
Every lot number can be cross-referenced against its originating laboratory documentation. Traceability is not aspirational — it is a condition of inclusion in the catalog.
Documentation
Why documentation matters.
A Certificate of Analysis is not a marketing document. It is a record of what a compound actually contains — the verified purity, the confirmed identity, the detected impurities. Without it, a researcher has no basis for evaluating a result.
Documentation creates accountability. When a result can be traced back to a lot number, and that lot number to a specific test, the researcher can distinguish between a compound variable and an experimental one. This distinction is not trivial.
Lunavita Labs provides lot-specific documentation with every order because transparency is not a feature. It is a condition of operating responsibly in this category.
The Collection
Considered curation, not breadth.
A compound enters the Lunavita catalog only after meeting the standards described here. We do not stock compounds because they are popular. We stock compounds that have earned their place.
Research volume
Meaningful independent preclinical literature must exist. Compounds without a research foundation are not included, regardless of market demand.
Supply traceability
Source documentation must be available and verifiable. We do not add compounds to the catalog when the supply chain cannot be confirmed.
Testing standard
The compound must pass HPLC and mass spectrometry analysis before a lot is accepted. Results below our purity threshold are returned, not discounted.
Documentation readiness
A lot-specific CoA must be prepared and accessible before the compound is listed. Documentation follows the compound — it does not follow the order.
Luxury watches have provenance. Fine wine has provenance. Artwork has provenance. At Lunavita, provenance belongs to research compounds.
Provenance is a record of origin, handling, and verification. For a research compound, that means: where the compound was produced, which laboratory tested it, what the results showed, and when it was released into the catalog.
This record does not exist to satisfy a regulatory requirement. It exists because a researcher deserves to understand exactly what they are working with — not in general terms, but specifically: this lot, this batch, this result.
The experience of purchasing from Lunavita should feel less like downloading a product and more like receiving an object with a documented history.
Batch Identification
Every lot has a number.
Lunavita lot numbers are structured to identify the compound, the batch sequence, and the year of testing. A lot number is not a reference code — it is the beginning of a traceable record.

Testing Documentation
The verification record.
HPLC Analysis
Confirms compound identity and quantifies purity. A chromatographic fingerprint of the exact lot received by the researcher.
Mass Spectrometry
Confirms molecular weight and identity independently of HPLC. A second, unrelated method of identity verification on every lot.
Endotoxin Testing
LAL testing for bacterial endotoxin contamination. Included on every lot as a condition of release, not on request.
Sterility
USP <71> sterility testing where applicable. Full sterility documentation available on request for qualifying compounds.
Certificate Archive
Documentation, accessible.
Every Certificate of Analysis issued by Lunavita Labs is archived and accessible. A researcher who placed an order twelve months ago can retrieve the documentation for that exact lot.
